How to enable caching from 3rd party DMS:

1. Please go to Setting > UPnP Library and turn ON "UPnP Cache"

2. Once you select a source the ONE will start caching the music automatically. This can take several hours for large libraries and depending on your network performance, but will not affect your browsing or playback capabilities as it is done in the background. If the ONE is turned off or restarted during the caching process it will be temporarily paused, and restarted once the source is selected again.

3. To update the DMS library cache please go to Setting > UPnP Library and select "Update UPnP Cache". This will re-build the cache if the content on the 3rd party DMS has changed. We will make this automatic in the future.

4. If the UPnP cache is turned OFF the ONE will browse the DMS source "on demand". Just as it was done before.

Known (remaining) bugs:

1. Tracks in WAV format still cannot be played over PLEX server.

2. Gapless playback of FLAC and MP3 files over network is not supported yet.

If you experience any issues please file a support ticket through Zendesk at https://olivemediainc.zendesk.com and we will address them quickly. Thanks!

SW: 1.0.28 Build 28

Date: 2015-01-30

A) Changes

New Features

1) Synchronous playback to multiple ONEs ("Party Mode").

Following remarks and limitations:

  • All ONEs have to be turned on (i.e. not in sleep mode) to join multi-room playback.
  • A stable network environment is required, preferably with Ethernet or WiFi 802.11n router
  • Right now only playback from local HDD and UPnP sources is available for synchronous playback, Bluetooth and Internet Radio is in the works and should be implemented soon.
  • Currently 2-3 ONEs run stable in party-mode. At more than 3 units and with WAV and AIFF or high-res audio files we have experienced performance issues and we are fine-tuning the networking drivers and buffering process to resolve these issues.
  • Slave units currently do not show the metadata of the original stream.
  • Pause & Seek is currently not supported
  • When a new unit joins a group that is already playing back, it will not start playback until the next track.
  • In rare cases the music stream will get out of sync or a Slave unit can unexpectedly drop out of the multi-room group.

To start multi-room playback please tap on the "Multi-room" icon in the mini or regular play-screen (when music is playing). The unit you initiate multi-room playback from is automatically set as the Master unit. Select the ONEs that you want to stream the music to and comfirm your selection. Enter the name for the group of players.

To set the volume for each device please tap on the "Multi-room" icon again and adjust the volume slider for each device.

To stop multi-room playback please tap on the "Multi-room" icon and deselect the multi-room group and confirm your selection.

To join (from another ONE) to an existing multi-room playback group please tap on the "Multi-room" icon and select the group you want to join and confirm your selection.

2) Import from USB Hard Disk Drive

To import music from a USB HDD please follow these instructions:

A) Format your USB HDD in FAT/FAT32 format

B) Copy your tracks onto the USB HDD (AAC, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, M4A, MP3, OGG and WAV are supported).

C) Connect the USB HDD to the ONE

D) Go to SETTINGS -> SYSTEM -> USB IMPORT and start the import. The ONE will confirm how many tracks are recognized and will be imported.

Following remarks:
> The imported music will show up in the folder "USB Import" and will replicate the same folder structure you have used to copy the music to the USB HDD.
> If you have used a USB HDD with several partitions the ONE will import music only from the first partition.
> Duplicate tracks on your USB HDD will only be imported once

3) Web interface for metadata editing (BETA)

Simply enter xxx.xxx.x.x/maestro.php where xxx.xxx.x.x corresponds with your Olive ONE's IP address. Important notes:

  • Right now you can only search and edit metadata by album (artist, genre and composer will be added later).
  • Please use Firefox for now as the web interface has been optimized for this browser.
  • Editing of album artwork and applying changes to complete album (on track level) are not supported yet.
  • Metadata is currently only written into local database and not into metadata tags.

4) Improvements and Bug fixes

  • We have redesigned the arranging of tracks in playlists to make it more intuitive.
  • We have resolved streaming issues with QNAP media server
  • Fixed inconsistent internet radio playback issues
  • We have redesigned the Internet Radio Favorites handling.
  • ONE will no longer go into power saving mode when importing music (#1006)
  • Improved performance of importing process and resolved various issues that caused process to abort.
  • Fine-tuned WiFi driver ro deliver considerable performance improvements (stability and speed).

B) Known (remaining) bugs:

  • Please see above for known issues regarding "party-mode" playback.
  • iOS and Android Apps do not support multi-room feature yet and will do so with next update.

If you experience any additional issues please file a support ticket through Zendesk at https://olivemediainc.zendesk.com and we will address them quickly. Thanks!

B) Known (remaining) bugs:

We are still aware of the following issues:
1) playback issues with some HD music files and music import problems with AAC files.
2) iOS and Android apps:
a) ONE does not show up in available devices list. We are still investigating this problem. iOS users please make sure to download the correct app which is available at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/olive-one/id905669491?mt=8 (we have had some customers that mistakenly downloaded the apps for our music server line, which does not work with Olive ONE.)
b) iOS app only: when the iPhone goes into power saving mode the Olive ONE app looses the connection with the Olive ONE. When the iPhone wakes up it is not able to find the Olive ONE in the available devices list. Users currently need to close completely the app from the background and launch it again to see the ONE again.

No other major consistent bugs are known at this point. If you experience any issues please file a support ticket through Zendesk at https://olivemediainc.zendesk.com and we will address them quickly. Thanks!

SW: 1.0.23 Build 7

Date: 2014-7-14

Bug Fixes

1. Solved inconsistent audio skips and "blips" during playback (resolves Zendesk ticket #448, 465, 564, 574). Also resolved inconsistent "clicking" noise at end of some AIFF files (resolves Zendesk ticket #559).

2. Resolved a few root causes where imported music does not appear in ONE's library, e.g. the disruption of music transfer through non-embedded artwork files on Mac computers (resolves Zendesk ticket #588, 621, 675, 703, 733).

3. WiFi password and settings are now stored after switching between WiFi and Ethernet modes (resolves Zendesk ticket #486).

4. Artwork that is not embedded but stored separately is now supported in most circumstances (resolves Zendesk ticket #485).

5. Resolved various problems with standby mode, e.g. that internal hard disk drive is not powering down, LCD has colored band after wake up, and (resolves Zendesk ticket #322, 437, 512, 565, 666, 696).

6. Solved various root causes for system freezing (resolves Zendesk ticket #401, 447, 510, 513, 573, 593, 709, 747).

Enhancements

1. Customer settings for sorting music (in columns) are now stored and will maintain after soft-reboot (resolves Zendesk ticket #490).

2. Added an additional volume sensor setting for customers that have reported sensitive volume sensors (resolves Zendesk ticket #386, 451, 659). Accessible under SETTINGS > PREFERENCES > VOLUME SENSOR

3. Added a CLEANUP DATABASE feature that erases the music in the ONE's SAMBA folder (MY OLIVE MUSIC) and the library index (i.e. what is represented on the user interface). This allows user's to conveniently wipe the hard drive from all music (resolves Zendesk ticket #527). Olive is working on a synchronization feature (scheduled for .24) that re-syncs the music in the SAMBA folder with the library index (e.g. if new music is added or removed in the SAMBA folder. This will also likely include a FOLDER VIEW navigation interface, requested by many users.

4. Internet Radio Stations that are added by users will now be accessible --after verification-- by all Olive ONE users (resolves Zendesk ticket #418, 458)

5. Further refined the standby (power saving) modes. To enable power saving go to SETTINGS > PREFERENCES > POWER and turn power savings ON. In this state the ONE will power down all components and services (hard disk drive, LCD, PCB, network etc.) and will also not be available as a music (UPnP) server in the network any more. If power savings is turned OFF all components stay on, except the LCD and processor (which will go into power saving mode if idle).

To manually activate the power savings please press the power button for one second (the LCD will turn off at this point).

Note: The Power button LED will currently not "breathe" in standby mode, but this will be resolved in .24.

6. Solved different GUI inconsistencies and added animations (resolves Zendesk tickets #503, 519, 566, 660, 661, 662, 663, 748).

B) Known (remaining) bugs:

There are still some remaining issues with regard to music import and not all music files showing up in the ONE's music library. We will introduce a reporting scheme in .24 that allows users to conveniently report back which files are not showing up in the music library to allow us to narrow down in which cases muisc files are not imported (e.g. incompatibility with some music formats, metadata etc.). Additionally there still might be few instances that cause system freezes, audio playback distortions, wake/sleep related issues and volume control sensitivity that have not been resolved yet, so please report them back to us.

If you experience any additional issues please file a support ticket through Zendesk at https://olivemediainc.zendesk.com and we will address them quickly. Thanks!
